Wooden is Going Green!!
May 6th, 2008

Our first graders are recycling cans and using the money to fix up the flower beds around the school. In green, is more information. I am also sending you some pictures of our first graders. Have you noticed the beautiful flowers out in front of the school? With the help of Joy Dulworth, first graders have raised over $40 to buy flowers to plant by recycling aluminum cans.

Shields Preserves Environment!
May 1st, 2008

Students from Shields Elementary recently learned a fun common sense approach to preserving our environment. The students took part in a free program offered by Modern Woodmen of America, a national provider of fraternal financial services and programs. Modern Woodmen’s Ecology Awareness Program helps students gain an understanding of the part people play in the environment. The program leads young people to make informed, ecological choices.
